<< Resort Tariffs >>
With the resort management change, the booking system has been put on hold for now. The intention is to allow you to request bookings and see what's available via the Internet. This will require the resort to purchase hardware and get approval, but my intent is to streamline the process, have transparency of bookings and stop unwanted guests at the gate.
17 Chalets with stunning view of the berg. 13-17 are 5 sleepers, 8-12 are 8 sleepers and the rest are 4 sleepers. Look at the Resort Tariffs for pricing (usually changes in April).

The Sterkfontein Dam Nature Reserve (18000ha) is located in the foothills of the Drakensberg and has some of the most beautiful scenery in South Africa. The Sterkfontein Dam's blue waters cover an area of 7000ha and receive frequent prevailing wind making it ideal for sailing. Other activities include boating, hiking, mountain biking, bird and game watching.
There's 17 fully equipped chalets that can house up to 80 people. There's also a recreational hall with bar and kitchen which is ideal for parties and conferences. A slipway and boathouses are available for boating enthusiasts. Fully equipped chalets offer breathtaking views across the dam and towards the Drakensberg Mountains.
In my opinion it's the best dam in South Africa by far, it has clean water which is unheard of these days and it has magnificent views of the berg. Being both a windsurfer and kiter, I can vouch that it has the better wind than any other inland dam due it's location at the edge of the escarpment. It's also conveniently situated midway between Johannesburg and Durban.
Wildlife Game common to mountainous areas are found here, namely oribi, reedbuck, mountain reedbuck, grey rhebuck. It also has a number of interesting and rare bird species such as the bearded and Cape vultures, black and martial eagles and secretary bird; and the bald ibis, the blue and whitebellied korhaan, the buffstreaked chat, the ground woodpecker.
Flora It has yellowwood, wild peach, koko tree, silky bark, black bark, bush guarri and wild grape. The mountain slopes have wild myrtle, redwood, ouhout, hush guarri, highveld protea, silver sugarbush and the scarce tree fern.
